Kosrae - Island of Sleeping Lady

Heh, nyt on maailmanmatkaaja päätynyt ihan oikealle saarelle. Mikä olisikaan parempi paikka nukkumista rakastavalle naiselle kuin Nukkuvan naisen saari? Ja miksikö Kosrae sitten on Nukkuvan naisen saari? Tämän takia:

Hah, the world traveller has ended up to the right island. What could be better place for a lady who loves to sleep than an island of the Sleeping Lady? And why Kosrae is an island of Sleeping Lady? Because of this:

Nukkuva nainen kuvaa Kosraeta monella tapaa hyvin. Tämä kun on tällainen uinuva saari. Hiljainen ja rauhallinen. Juuri sopiva paikka käydä aina joskus ulkoiluttamassa kameraa ihan vaan omaksi iloksi. Ja ehkä vähän teidänkin. 😊

Sleeping Lady describes Kosrae well. This is a quiescent island. Quiet and peaceful. A perfect place to take your camera out just for fun every once in a while.

Paikalliset kalastajat työssään. Tuo vene on veikeä! Ja harvemmin Suomessa näkee, että kalastajat ovat vedessä niitä verkkoja nostamassa...

Tässä on Lelun koulu. Siis täällä on saari nimeltään Lelu ja saarella sijaitsee vuori nimeltään Poro. Olo tuntuu kovin kotoisalta! 😂
This is the Lelu elementary school (Lelu means toy in Finnish). Lelu is an island with a Poro mountain (Poro means reindeer in Finnish). I feel home with these names! 😂

Matalan veden aikaan pienet mangrove saaret ovat nähtävillä.
During the low tide you can see these small mangrove islands.

Kaloja voi kuvata ihan laituriltakin käsin. Nämä pienet trumpettikalat maastoutuvat hyvin taustaan.
You can take pics of fish even from the jetty. These small trumpet fish camouflages well.

Monta kertaa olen ajanut Tofolissa ohi "Scenic view"-kyltistä. Tällä kertaa päätin käydä tarkistamassa, mistä on kyse. Viidakkoveitselle olisi ollut kovasti käyttöä, jotta maisemaa olisi voinut oikeasti ihailla. Tämä oli ainoa kohta, mistä pääsi hieman näkemään pusikoiden takaa Lelu-saarta.
I've have passed "Scenic view" -sign many times in Tofol. This time I decided to find out what is that place. Without machete you couldn't really see much. This was the only spot you were able to see little bit of Lelu-island.

Matkalla ylös sai taas kivuta viidakon keskellä. Ja yllätyksekseni ympärillä oli eukalyptuspuita.
You had to hide in the jungle on the way up. I was surprised to see eukalyptus trees up there. 

Vierailu näköalapaikalla toi mukanaan mukavan yllätyksen. Olin Kosraelle tullessani täysin varma, että olen ainoa suomalainen saarella, mutta enpäs olekaan! Yhden oppilaan äiti alkoi taannoin kyselemään, että mistäs maasta minä olenkaan ja kertoi, että täällä on töissä toinenkin suomalainen. Olin yrittänyt selvittää, miten saisin häneen yhteyden, mutta tuloksetta. Nyt törmäsin häneen ihan vahingossa - hän kun asuu "tuolla ylhäällä", kuten paikalliset olivat minulle kertoneet. Päästäkseni näköalapaikalle jouduin jättämään auton matkan varrella olevan pienen hotellin pihaan. Pihalla oli yksi tuntemani paikallinen mies valkoisen miehen kanssa. Laskin yksi plus yksi ja sain selville, että siinä se toinen suomalainen oli! Tässä on maisema Hannun takapihalta Tofoliin. Kuvassa saaren ainoa lukio ja oikealle siitä matalat pitkät rakennukset ovat College of Micronesian toimitiloja.

There was a great surprise waiting for me while visiting the scenic view. When I came to Kosrae I was certain that I'm the only Finnish on the island. But I'm not! A mother of one of our student told me that there is a Finnish guy working on the island. I've been trying to contact him, but without the result. Now I found him by accident. Locals told me that he lives "up there" - but I never knew up where.  On my way to the scenic view I had to leave my car in front of the small hotel. There were two guys outside - one local who I knew and one white guy. I found out, that the white guy was that other Finnish! This is the view from Hannu's backyard to Tofol. There is the high school and College of Micronesia in the pic.
